Hello.

I'm Piyush Jaipuriyar — a software engineer, slow reader, and quiet observer of the systems we build for ourselves.

What I do.

By day I write software — mostly distributed systems, some platform work, occasionally too much YAML. By night I write here, read books twice, and try to keep a small kitchen garden alive on a Bengaluru balcony.

I believe in small, durable things — good naming, clear sentences, interfaces that don't surprise, portfolios that don't ask to be checked. This blog is where I try to write that down before it blurs.

Currently working on

A small library for deterministic agent evaluations, an essay on the economics of attention, and a long-overdue rewrite of this site using only CSS variables and restraint.

What I think about.

Software craft

The slow art of writing code that explains itself and ages well. Boring infrastructure, mostly.

Applied AI

Less about the frontier, more about what's quietly useful in production this week.

Personal finance

Low-cost index funds, long time horizons, the unfashionable virtue of doing nothing.

Books & ideas

Non-fiction, essays, the occasional novel. Notes in the margins. Quotes underlined twice.
